The Roost: rocking on the wild
side
JENNY FENIAK, SPECIAL TO THE EDMONTON SUN
The Roost is an
exceptional destination when you really want to let your
wild side loose. I'm not talking about getting
inebriated and taking on the world, but more of a
creative sense of self-expression.
There was a special party upstairs last weekend
celebrating local duo Pocket Universe's second CD,
Primal.
Guests were encouraged to dress up and that they did.
Besides PVC and leather-clad individuals, everyone was
aglow under the funky black lights, which put a neon
orange and green spin on everything.
Besides the ethereal, rhythm-driven performance by Mykel
and his Moonfyre, who are Pocket Universe, little
vignettes were being performed on a few other smaller
stages.
Whips, paddles, fire and other props were brought out to
demonstrate the alternate extremes of pleasure, pain and
beauty and it was definitely a sight to be seen.
