Out Here in the Rain

You park your car / And leave the motor running / You’re stepping out into the rain / A broken heart / You should have seen it coming / It hit you like a southbound train / Wasn’t it enough The total devastation / Did they have to rub your nose in it again / Some foolish words Within a conversation / A knife that cuts / And a love that stains / But all you ever wanted / Was to be understood / For some one to love you / All the same / Now you’re out here wandering / Trading tears for the pain / And there ain’t nobody / Ever gonna see them falling / Out here in the rain

We settle down / And then we settle into / The comfort zone / And we don’t think twice / Until one day / When nothing is so simple / We fall in love / And then we pay the price / But all you ever wanted  / Was to be understood / For someone to love you / All the same / Now your out here wondering / Trading tears for the pain / And there ain’t nobody / Ever gonna see them falling / Out here in the rain
